Witnessed Witnessing - A Performative Croquis and Rope Art Experience

  • Shetlandsgade 3 Copenhagen 2300 Denmark (map)

House Of Play is proud to collaborate with Performative Croquis, an artistic constellation that explores the performative elements found in the traditional drawing discipline, Croquis, together with live music.

For each performance, new poetic stories are told, and for this special evening, we’re bringing Performative Croquis and Rope Art together in a sizzling mix of visual expression.

Performative Croquis opens the first part of the evening with the poetic narrative WITNESS and WITNESSING. A reflection on life's transitions - transformation, liberation and anchoring.

Performers' bodies move slowly and symbiotically to an ambient soundscape played live with cello and electronics. The performance consists of a combination of ritual actions, movements and expressive body positions, together with advanced forms of rope art, which the audience is invited to draw, or simply experience.

For the second part of the evening, we invite a number of couples from the audience to tie, while the rest of us witness and - if you want to - draw what you see.

PERFORMERS

Helene Sally:

Helene Sally is a versatile artist with a background in performance design. Helenes works with, and challenges, the boundaries between performance art, dance and visual art. Her practice is centered around bodily and aesthetic experiences, where she seeks to create space for personal development and reflection through artistic and sensual processes.

Hannah Rae Hampson:

Hannah is a classically trained cellist from the UK now living in Denmark. Her freelance career spans a wide spectrum of activities. In recent years, Hannah's artistic journey and curiosity has taken her deeper into working with contemporary composers and performance artists. She has found new, creative ways of performing, combining classical cello with improvisation and electronics.

Gabrielle and Jac Fabian:

Gabrielle and Jac both have many years of experience with rope performances in Denmark and abroad. The two have performed together many times before and are known for their mesmerising and intimate expression. They’re both part of the House of Play crew.
