What happens when you combine deep presence and listening through movement with the impact, polarity and creativity of rope bondage?
This workshop is an exploration of movement as a possibility to turn rope play into a creative expression and co-creation between two or more people. We'll be exploring aspects where both the person tying and being tied are invited to move and express themselves within and around the ropes. Using movement to build connection or as storytelling, both people create the scene more than it is a doer and being done to.
We will use methods from body work, contact impro, couples dance and martial arts to break free from the traditional patterns of rope bondage.
This can open up a new world of deeper connection and flow, that might turn your rope session into a curious and moving journey of creating magic together.
WHAT TO EXPECT
This workshop invites you to step beyond technical ties and into an embodied exploration - where movement becomes a language, and ropes an extension of your expression. We will work with leading and following, the difference between intuitive and intentional movement, as well as listening to and with your body. We invite you to explore how movement can nurture connection, flow, and serve as an opportunity for storytelling - giving the person tying and being tied the possibilities to co-create together.
Drawing inspiration from practices that cultivate deep listening and responsiveness - such as body work, contact improvisation, martial arts and couples dancing - we will explore how to communicate through movements to broaden our palette in ropes.
Through solo, duo, and group exercises - both with and without ropes - we will strive to break free from habitual patterns and embrace a wide range of polarity and creative exploration. Throughout the workshop we encourage you to tie with different partners in different constellations to create a broad range of experiences and a more connected group dynamic. We invite you to be open to tie with new people across all genders. We always ask that you respect your own boundaries.
Saturday evening will be a jam with live music.
Expect an immersive journey of presence, play, and connection - where each micro or macro movement is an invitation to reveal something new.
This weekend is not about tying, yet all about tying.
You will not learn a lot of new patterns, but explore how different ways of moving can expand the playfulness, polarity and connection in ropes.
WHO IS IT FOR?
This workshop is primarily for people with some experience in BOTH tying and getting tied.
You have experience in tying simple but sustainable patterns and a safe suspension line for support - no full suspension experience required. You have the same experience being tied and know how to keep your body safe in ropes.
We also have a very limited number of tickets for people with no experience in tying but some experience being tied AS WELL as a background in dancing or other movement practices. You should have experience with being tied in semi suspensions so you know how to keep your body safe and you can contribute with your knowledge from your background in movement practices. You need to contact us before you buy a ticket. You can catch us at info@houseofplay.dk
